Sangria and Stories: The Art of Cartography

Cartography is the process of mapping a geographical area. It’s also, especially in the pre-digital age, an art, practiced by highly skilled artisan cartographers. Join Noel Smith, Curator of Latin American & Caribbean Art at USF’s Graphicstudio, as she discusses the methods and techniques used to envision and create selected maps in the History Center’s “Gateways to the Caribbean” exhibition, which features maps dating back to the 16th century. Sangria and Stories is limited to 25 guests and includes a glass of Columbia Cafe sangria, complimentary garage parking and an in-gallery presentation. Pre-registration is required.
