      PWPBS Summer/Fall 2019 Training Series

      Please select ALL sessions you want to attend and then you will be prompted to complete registration demographic form. A NO-COST  workshop series funded by the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County. Sessions focus on effective strategies that promote social-emotional development and address challenging behavior in young children birth to five years old through implementation of the Pyramid Model.Topics are geared for teachers, teaching assistants, early childhood coaches, administrators, therapists, and mental health providers. A certificate of training hours will be provided upon completion of training.   USF Trainers: Eunice Lopez, Paola Ramirez, Dana Peña, Jennifer Klue, Lisa Knight, Erin Sizemore, and Anna Winneker  Some sessions may require additional craft items for make-and-takes. Registrants will receive an email listing what items to bringviders. A certificate of training hours will be provided upon completion of training.   Teaching Emotional Literacy: An Interactive Workshop for Infant, Toddler and Preschool Educators Learn practical strategies to build in emotional language across all routines including transitions. Practitioners will expand their knowledge on innovative ways to implement positive descriptive feedback during interactions. Participants will learn how to effectively collaborate with colleagues and family members to embed emotional literacy into their daily conversations. August 20, 2019 (4:30-7:30 PM) or August 24, 2019 (8:30-11:30 AM)   Calm the Chaos: Tips for Smooth Transitions Without transition tips and tricks, the time it takes to get children from one activity to another can feel like chaos. In this session, we will share transition strategies that will prevent challenging behavior and help kids M-O-V-E from one activity to the next. Participants will make-and-take tools to use, receive visual strategies participate in fun raffle giveaways. September 14, 2019 (8:30-11:30 AM) or September 18, 2019 (4:30-7:30 PM)    Cultural Responsiveness and PBS Success for all children is the goal for childcare programs. All programs and classrooms should examine the practices and strategies used to ensure this outcome. This session will look at how to evaluate and incorporate cultural responsiveness in our classrooms. Participants will learn how to use data to improve existing Positive Behavior Support (PBS) strategies. Resources and strategies specific to increasing the use of culturally responsive practices will be shared.  October 15, 2019 (4:30-7:30 PM) or October 26, 2019 (8:30-11:30 AM)    From Seed to Flower: Cultivating Family Partnerships that Flourish! This workshop will provide information and strategies on how to nourish the family partnerships in your classroom. Research-based practices will be discussed to enhance teachers’ knowledge and ideas to build communication when working with diverse families. Resources and make & take activities will be provided throughout the training.
